Good riddance to mercury in gold mining

Clean Mining, a part of the Clean Earth Technologies group, has developed a proven solution that fully replaces mercury in the artisanal and small-scale gold mining sector.

Mercury is a neurotoxic substance commonly used in extracting gold in artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM). This practice comprises roughly 15 – 25% of all gold production, and yet contributes to nearly 40% of all global mercury pollution.

Millions of miners are adversely affected from inhaling mercury vapours during the gold recovery process, and surrounding communities and the environment also suffer from mercury contamination in water and soil. A solution has been a long time coming and is finally at hand.

CET’s award-winning, non-toxic thiosulphate-based solution is now the only genuine answer to eliminating mercury use in ASGM, having been successfully tested and proven in-field by Clean Mining.
