Clean gold captures the international spotlight

Clean Earth Technologies’ flagship mining product has won top honours in the prestigious 2019 international Mining Magazine Awards, announced today (24 Jan 2020).

The industry-choice awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the global mining industry, shining a spotlight on those who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the industry in the past 12 months.

CET’s cyanide-free gold processing technology won the mineral processing category in recognition of its potential to significantly improve safety and sustainability in the gold sector. It is being developed and marketed by Clean Mining, part of the Clean Earth Technologies group.

Award winners were announced in the January/February issue of Mining Magazine.

It is an honour to be recognised in these awards and for the value of our technology to be acknowledged by industry leaders.

CET Group CEO Kevin Fell said, “It is an honour to be recognised in these awards and for the value of our technology to be acknowledged by industry leaders.

“The global shift towards cleaner, safer and more responsible mineral processing is a huge step forward for our environment and for mining communities around the world and Clean Mining is at the forefront.”

CET’s award-winning solution is one of the group’s portfolio of innovative environmental remediation products designed for the oil and gas, agriculture and consumer electronics industries.

The innovative technology replaces cyanide in gold extraction with a non-flammable, water soluble reagent called thiosulphate. The eco-friendly process also has the potential to eliminate the need for tailings dams when used in conjunction with Clean Mining’s de-watering processes. Additionally, it can be used to replace mercury in those mining sectors which use the neurotoxic substance to recover gold, like artisanal and small-scale gold mining operations. It has been developed over more than a decade, in collaboration with Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO.

Since launching the breakthrough solution in June 2019, Clean Mining has been inundated with interest from gold producers around the globe. The process has been proven and tested in-field at a pilot plant in the goldfields of Menzies, Western Australia, with on-going progress toward developing commercial plants.
